The challenge

The challenge was to re-envision the trading app's dashboard with a strong focus on user needs. The findings from the audit emphasised key aspects:

  • The dashboard needed to clearly show whether the user's money was increasing or decreasing.
  • Money transfers should be a seamless and effortless process.
  • Graphs required context without overwhelming the overall page.
  • Consistency between the desktop and mobile interfaces was lacking.
  • Navigation options needed exploration and improvement, considering items like Dashboard, Trading, Savings, Statements, Learn, and Help & Support.

The solution

To address these challenges, I took the following steps:

  • Overhauled the information architecture with a focus on user flows, leading to the creation of effective wireframes.
  • Utilised Maze for prototype testing, ensuring the validation of design assumptions and the improvement of user navigation and task execution.
  • Refined the designs for both desktop and mobile interfaces, maintaining consistency across platforms.
  • Introduced prominent calls-to-action for buying, selling, and adding funds, ensuring that users could easily find and perform these actions.
  • Allowed for customisable dashboard views, providing users with the flexibility to adjust the layout according to their preferences.
  • Clarified the terminology associated with "Savings" accounts, ensuring users understood its purpose clearly.

The result

The user experience of the trading app was notably enhanced, leading to improved usability for all users. Navigation within the app was streamlined, resulting in a significant boost to user efficiency when performing tasks.

The design changes implemented were successfully validated through comprehensive user testing.
